    The theme of this year’s Royal Navy & Royal Marines Children’s Fund was Space. There were plenty of entries with many individuals and schools entering, including one school from Gibraltar. A special mention goes to the home schoolers who entered for the first time.

    Payments made to families on the death of RAF personnel, who were members of the RAF Dependants Fund, have been increased by £2,500 to up to £17,500.

    The farming industry remains concerned about the long-term implications of the summer heatwave. During July, The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) received 73 calls and referrals for help due to financial pressures – a 66% increase on last year.

    Perennial has recently launched a new child bursary scheme to help horticulturists who may not need Perennial’s help themselves, but whose child or children have an educational need that their income will not support.

Sarah Parker has joined the team as Case Work and Marketing Administrator, to provide administrative assistance to the case work and marketing functions.

    The Retired Nurses National Home, run by Friends of the Elderly, has welcomed a hive of bees to the grounds of the home. The swarm, which contains approximately 1500 bees, is being cared for by staff at the home with support of the local beekeeping association.

    Family Fund Business Services, the trading subsidiary of Family Fund, has increased its portfolio of suppliers, recently signing a contract with Electric Mobility.
