Job Title: Chief Executive Officer

Organisation: Clergy Support Trust

Salary: Competitive, full-time

Location: Based in Westminster, London

Job Description:

We are the biggest and oldest grant-making charity focused on supporting Anglican clergy and their families. In 2019 we disbursed grants totalling over £3.1 million to some 1,410 beneficiaries.

We are looking for a new Chief Executive to succeed our current CEO, Jeremy Moodey, who is retiring in the autumn after a three-year period of significant change, including the 2019 relaunch of the charity with a new brand, a fresh strategy and a more focused approach to how we support our beneficiaries.

Reporting to the board of trustees through the chair, the Chief Executive has the following main responsibilities:

  1. Working with trustees to set the overall strategic direction of the charity and deliver its key elements.
  2. Providing inspirational leadership to the senior management and staff team.
  3. Representing the charity externally.
  4. Facilitating good governance.
  5. Overseeing the operations of the charity and ensuring sound financial management.

This is an exciting time to be joining our team of committed trustees and hard-working staff. Our next Chief Executive will be someone who has the skills and expertise to lead the charity as it explores new directions and partnerships. He or she will work with our board to confirm our position at the heart of the Anglican Communion in the British Isles and firmly in the awareness of clergy and their dependents. We are looking for an influential and inspirational leader with a proven track record of achievement and a strong external focus and natural ability to engage. Excellent leadership, communication and team-building skills are a must and, of course, the successful candidate will also be someone who cares deeply about the wellbeing of Anglican clergy and their families today.

This post has an occupational requirement under Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 for the post holder to be a committed Christian.
