Commemoration service honours the life and legacy of Edith Cavell

Cavell Nurses' Trust is working with the Florence Nightingale Foundation to host a special service at Westminster Abbey commemorating the life of Florence Nightingale as well as the Centenary of Edith Cavell's reinterment on 15th May 2019 at Westminster Abbey.

The event marks exactly one hundred years since Edith Cavell's body returned to the UK from Belgium. In 1919 crowds of people lined the streets of London as Edith's coffin, mounted on a gun carriage with a Union Jack flag draped over it, made its way from Victoria Station to Westminster Abbey for a special ceremony.
