Third Sector Awards 2021 - Third Sector Awards 2021
Last updated September 2021

Congratulations ACO nominees of the Third Sector Awards

The Care Workers’ Charity, MND Association and Racing Welfare are amongst members shortlisted for Third Sector Awards.

The Care Workers’ Charity have been shortlisted in the category of ‘Charity of the Year: Under £5m’ at the Third Sector Awards. They have been recognised amongst a host of organisations for their work providing the social care workforce with vital financial grants, and wellbeing support.

Racing Welfare are in the running for the Communications Team of the Year Award.   The event typically sees entries from the largest and most prolific organisations in the sector; this year is no different with Racing Welfare up against charity giants British Red Cross and Climate Group, so it is a huge accolade for the charity – which provides support for anyone working in or retired from racing – to make the shortlist.  The team comprises Nicki Strong, Head of Communications and Marketing, Digital Marketing Executive Parris Lane, Digital Content Editor Tina Scargill, Communications Executive Lauren Braithwaite, and formerly included Communications Manager Felicity Marshall.

Dawn Goodfellow, Racing Welfare Chief Executive, said: “What a huge honour for our communications team to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards.  The last eighteen months have been a huge challenge for us all and to have the team’s achievements recognised in this way is testament to both the dedication and innovation they have shown .  We are holding our own alongside some high-profile charities in this category and I have my fingers firmly crossed for the final but, win or lose on the night, I am just so proud of the whole Racing Welfare team’s hardwork during these difficult times.”

The MND Association has been shortlisted in the Charity of the Year category.

Sally Light, Chief Executive of the MND Association said: “I’m delighted the MND Association has been recognised in the Third Sector Awards in the competitive Charity of the Year category. To say the past year has been difficult for people affected by MND is an understatement and as an Association we have done everything we can to support people living with this devastating disease and drive forward research at the most uncertain of times. We couldn’t do any of this without our incredible network of volunteers, dedicated supporters and staff who have provided support, campaigned, raised awareness and fundraised to ensure anyone diagnosed with MND can access vital support. As we said in our awards application – MND is relentless, and so are we – and we won’t stop until we achieve our goal of a world free from MND.”

The Third Sector Awards provide an opportunity for voluntary organisations of all sizes, and the people who work for them, to celebrate their work and the real difference they make to society. After the extraordinary events of the Covid-19 pandemic, this has never been so important. Chosen by an expert panel of judges, the awards provide an opportunity for voluntary organisations of all sizes, and the people who work for them, to celebrate their work and the real difference they make to society.

The winners will be announced at the awards presentation on Friday 17 September 2021.
