Here to Help Campaign - Update

A new Winter Economic Plan has been announced to protect jobs amid the government's Job Retention Scheme (furlough) ending in October. However, with predictions this will not go far enough to prevent redundancies, we have been working hard throughout September to spread the word about help available from benevolent funds and grant-giving charities.

Please see below for some of the main actions taken by ACO during September as part of our Here to Help campaign:

  • Ran Twitter takeovers on both ACEVO (11th September) and Turn2us' (15th September) Twitter accounts to share regular posts throughout the day to inform others in the charity sector and Turn2us service users about benevolent funds and where they can help someone who is struggling at this time, and to spread the word about the Here to Help campaign.
  • Distributed a press release during w/c 14th September with findings from our Summer 2020 members' survey about their response so far during Covid-19, plus case studies and quotes from our member charities.
  • Commenced frequent social media activity around the campaign - sharing stories and quotes from our member charities of where they have assisted people during the pandemic and stats from our 2020 members' survey.
  • Had initial conversations with the following organisations about the campaign and support available from benevolent funds: Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Trussell Trust, The Children's Society, Christians Against Poverty, End Furniture Poverty, Citizens Advice, Shelter, Turn2us, Fareshare, The Reuse Network, Mortgage Prisoners and the Southern Hosing Group.
  • Contributed newsletter articles about the campaign to Turn2us, COBSEO, The Reuse Network, Shelter Scotland, Citizen's Advice Bureau, Trussell Trust and The Children's Society's Coordinated Community Support to go out to their mailing lists.
  • Google Ad Grant application accepted and a campaign set up for individuals in financial need to be directed to our Here to Help campaign landing page - campaign landing page has had close to 1,500 hits at time of writing, higher than any other page on our website over this period.
  • In discussions about a couple of potential speaking opportunities for ACO about the campaign that we hope to confirm in the near future.
