Job description
The British Society for Heart Failure (BSH) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join its Board as Trustee (Policy & Fundraising) at a pivotal point in its growth. With heart failure affecting over 1 million people in the UK and demand set to rise, BSH is leading national efforts to improve prevention, diagnosis and care. As a Trustee, you will contribute to shaping the charity’s long term strategy, ensuring strong governance and supporting its ambitious mission to reduce avoidable deaths and improve outcomes for patients.

This role brings a particular focus on fundraising, policy and influencing. You will provide expert insight to strengthen income generation, guide policy and lobbying activity, and support the Board in making informed, strategic decisions. Acting as a Link Trustee to the CEO, you will play a key role in performance oversight, organisational effectiveness and leadership support, including chairing the CEO Performance and Remuneration Panel.

We are looking for someone with senior leadership experience, strong governance expertise and a track record in fundraising, policy or commercial strategy. You will bring excellent analytical and communication skills, a collaborative approach and a commitment to improving outcomes in heart failure. This is a voluntary role requiring approximately 1–2 days per month, offering a unique opportunity to influence national change and contribute to a high impact, mission driven organisation.
