Job Description

We are looking for experienced caseworkers, grants officers or welfare advisers who are passionate about helping people navigate financial hardship and life’s challenges? Do you want to join a charity that combines compassion with practical support and is embarking on an exciting period of strategic growth and service development? As a Grants & Services Caseworker, you will manage a varied caseload and provide a supportive, person-centred service to applicants and beneficiaries. Applications are welcomed from people interested in the permanent roles, the fixed-term role, or both options.

You will:

• Assess grant applications and make funding recommendations.
• Conduct needs assessments and discuss applicants’ circumstances sensitively and professionally.
• Analyse financial information and eligibility against grant criteria.
• Provide welfare guidance and signposting on issues such as benefits, housing, employment and debt.
• Build positive relationships with applicants, beneficiaries and partner organisations.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvement, reporting and evaluation activities.

You will bring:

• Experience of welfare advice, individual casework or hardship grant making to individuals facing financial hardship or complex personal circumstances.
• General awareness of UK state benefits and welfare support systems.
• Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong numeracy and confidence working with financial information and digital case management systems.
• Empathy, sound judgement and a non-judgemental approach.
