Welcome to the July edition.
This week’s change of Prime Minister and the formation of a new Cabinet inevitably brings a renewed focus on government priorities, and for charities, a fresh opportunity to build relationships, influence policy and demonstrate the vital role our sector plays in supporting communities. While it will take time for the new administration’s priorities to become clear, it has already signalled an early focus on economic growth, devolution and tackling the cost of living, all of which are likely to have implications for ACO charities supporting individuals.
The broader sector will certainly be looking for continued recognition of the contribution charities make in tackling issues such as poverty, health, social care, employment and community resilience. ACO will be keeping a close eye on developments and highlighting the announcements that matter most to our members in the months ahead.
Against this backdrop of political change and continuing pressures on the charity sector, our Annual Conference in London on 17 September, kindly supported by CCLA, provides a timely opportunity to step back, connect with colleagues across the network and explore some of the key trends shaping our work. Whether you’re looking for fresh ideas, practical insights or simply the chance to build and strengthen relationships with other ACO members, I would strongly encourage you and your colleagues to join us for what promises to be a really engaging and enjoyable day! On a final note, do please take the opportunity to nominate your charity, your colleagues or indeed another ACO member for one of this year’s ACO Annual Awards, supported by Family Fund Business Services. With a range of categories including our new Rising Star award, this is a great opportunity to showcase the incredible achievements of charities across the network.
