When you are supporting people who are vulnerable or disadvantaged, making a payment swiftly and directly into their bank account can be the most effective way of delivering the help they need.
There could be an emergency that necessitates cash for food or repairs, or financial support might be required for a planned activity such as travel to and from a hospital appointment or a critical job interview.
Charis’s new product CharisPay, enables support organisations to make real-time direct payments to recipients, addressing these use cases head on.
Sitting alongside energy, cash and retail vouchers on the Charis Shop, CharisPay is underpinned by Faster Payments, a system for near-immediate electronic payments between UK bank accounts.
When an organisation enters the recipient’s name and account details in the Charis Shop, the details are checked in real time, using the standard Confirmation of Payee service, before a transaction is completed.
Each transaction costs just £0.75 plus VAT.
Nick Harding, Charis’s Commercial Director, said, “CharisPay enables our partners to deliver support straight to someone’s bank account in a controlled and very cost-effective way. And importantly, the suite of Charis Shop reporting means that there’s a robust audit trail of payments made.
“The choice of a confirmation text or email is sent to the customer letting them know that help has arrived and unlike vouchers, no activation or redemption activities are required.
“CharisPay can be managed alongside the provision of other support through the Charis Shop. This includes the ability to set spending limits at individual or organisation level, and to track and report on your transactions.”
Being able to deliver the right support to someone at the right time and in the right way lies at the heart of supporting vulnerable or disadvantaged households. Charis’s services help ensure organisations are able to use their resources effectively and efficiently, with the ability to manage and report on what they are delivering.
Nick added, “The ability to make a direct payment into someone’s account extends the range of ways our partners can distribute support. CharisPay enhances the offering we have alongside a wide range of household appliances and products, winter warmth bundles, retail and energy vouchers, and other services.
“We are already working to extend the range of CharisPay products to increase the number of support solutions our partners have available.”
Charis has been managing the distribution of support to vulnerable households for over 20 years. This includes tailored management of multi-million pound support funds as well as enabling small organisations to distribute a wide range of financial support, products and services efficiently and cost effectively.
