Charity News Review: May 2025

Read the latest ACO newsletter with updates from us, our members and the wider charity sector.

Welcome to the May edition.

Post-Covid we have seen a significant increase in the range and volume of support services delivered by charities within the ACO network. These services have taken many forms, from debt advice, counselling and mental health services through to sleep management, gambling and neurodiversity.

But what is driving this growth? What are the most effective delivery models? And what role does prevention take in supporting your beneficiary audience?

These questions and more will form one of the key strands of our forthcoming Annual Conference (18 September 2025, London) where we will look at the key trends in service delivery and how charities look to maintain impactful support in challenging economic times.

Registration launches in June with more details to follow – we hope to see you there!

In the meantime, last week we brought together a group of colleagues in London around “Building Best Practice in Impact and Evaluation”. It provided a timely reminder of the importance of imbedding positive approaches to evaluation within our organisations, in order to understand the positive change we may/may not make in the lives of the individuals we look to support. One of the great quotes emerging from the day was: “The impact you have is the reason your organisation exists.”

Plenty of food for thought!
