Job Description
The role of Honorary Treasurer/Trustee is an important role in the organisation. The charity is at an exciting stage of development and the role would allow the successful applicant to really make a difference to the charity and the beneficiaries we assist. Some of the responsibilities of the role include;

  • Overseeing the financial affairs of the organisation and ensuring they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
  • Ensuring proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the financial health of the organisation.
  • Overseeing the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits
  • Helping fellow committee members be aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data.
  • Regularly reporting the financial position at committee meetings (balance sheet, cash flow etc.).
  • Liaising with accountant and CEO on the production of an annual budget and proposing its adoption.
  • Ensuring that effective financial procedures and controls are in place.
  • Appraising the financial viability of plans and proposals.
  • Liaising with CEO on payroll and HMRC payments.
  • Chairing the Investment Subcommittee held twice a year to monitor the investments we hold.
We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with extensive experience in the financial sector; however experience in the voluntary/charity field and the relief of poverty would also be desirable. A successful applicant would be decisive, responsible, and passionate about delivering and developing the aims of the charity. Our Trustees play a vital role in the work of the charity and have a high degree of responsibility.

You could make a difference to a family struggling to afford school uniforms for their children, a cancer sufferer who has had to give up work and is struggling to manage financially, a medical student whose funding has failed, or a single parent who has moved to a new home and needs assistance with the cost of furniture – these are all areas in which PAG has assisted and continues to assist.

We are looking for someone to complement the Board, and to bring financial expertise to help us progress and grow in this ever-changing climate.
